Activities

The Creekside Choir is a non-auditioned group open to all 4th and 5th grade students.  We rehearse Friday mornings at 8:15am from September 27th through our festival in March.  This year our concerts will include the Veteran's Day assembly, a December concert and a choir festival with other neighboring schools.

At Creekside we have at least 2 Marimba Ensembles each year consisting of 4th and 5th grade students.  These are auditioned groups that play 3-6 part songs, most of which are African in style with lots of syncopation and polyrhythm, but also some rock, classical, and jazz songs. Each group meets one morning a week before school.  We play school concerts and assemblies, as well as community performances including both the Sammamish Farmer's Market and the Issaquah Farmer's Market.

The KCLS Foundation sponsors this fun-filled "Battle of the Books" style program that encourages 4th and 5th graders to work together on teams and challenge other schools to correctly answer questions about ten selected books. Children's Librarians select the titles for a wide range of reading levels especially suited to the interests of young readers. The goal is to encourage students at all reading levels to engage in teamwork while reading some of the best in children's literature.

Our Creekside Green Team is a group of third, fourth, and fifth grade students who work together to make our school more sustainable. Our goal is to maintain our level 4 green school status and to encourage students to develop environmental empathy and a passion for reducing waste and increasing recycling and composting.

Pride Club is a safe space for students to build community, as well as to educate and raise student and staff awareness about LGBTQIA+ history and people. 

Our Creekside Safety Patrol is a group of fourth and fifth graders who work to make our school safe at morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up. Safety Patrol students help by assisting students in the crosswalk, opening and closing car doors, greeting students as they get off the bus, making sure the Creekside Way is followed, and assisting students who need help.

Creekside's 3rd-5th grade Student Council representatives work with students, staff, and administrators to create a welcoming and supportive environment at Creekside. With enthusiasm and leadership, our representatives create opportunities and events to build community and school spirit!
