Message from Assistant Principal, Ms. Skurski 12/11/25

As we move through December, I wanted to share a few upcoming highlights. Next week, we will celebrate our character trait award winners for Responsibility and Gratitude during our school assembly. We are excited to recognize students who consistently show these traits in our community. We will also come together to enjoy some winter music as a school—always a wonderful way to build connection and celebrate the season. Thank you for your ongoing partnership and support. We look forward to a great week ahead.

Thank you,

Patti Skurski, Assistant Principal

December's Character Trait: Empathy

This week we are focusing on the trait of Empathy—recognizing how others feel and understanding different perspectives.

  • 3rd graders are practicing empathy by learning to see situations through someone else’s eyes.
  • 5th graders are working on showing empathy through leadership, especially in the ways they positively influence their peers and younger Otters.

We encourage families to celebrate and talk about moments of empathy at home. Recognizing others’ feelings and responding with care helps our Otters Level Up in their relationships and their learning.

Last Chance for Lost and Found!

Last day for lost and found will be on Friday, December 19th. Any unclaimed items will be donated to the Community Clothing Closet for their ISD Winter Clothing drive. Lost and Found will be out in front of the office starting Wednesday, December 17th.

Winter Wonderland Spirit Week is next week 12/15-12/19

Dear Families,

We're excited to celebrate the week before winter break with five fun spirit days! Here's what each day involves so you can help your student participate:

Monday, December 15th - Cozy Comfort Day: Students can wear their most comfortable winter clothing like soft sweaters, fuzzy slippers, cozy pajama pants, or even bring a small blanket to use as a cape. The goal is to feel relaxed and comfortable as we wind down.

Tuesday, December 16th - Sparkle & Shine Day: Encourage your student to wear anything that glitters, shimmers, or catches the light - sequined clothing, metallic accessories, holiday jewelry, or anything with a bit of sparkle. This celebrates the festive season in a dazzling way.

Wednesday, December 17th - Winter Wonderland White-Out: Students should wear as much white, silver, and light blue as possible to create a beautiful "snowy" effect throughout our school. Think winter colors that represent the season's natural beauty.

Thursday, December 18th - Festive Flannel & Fun Socks: This is a great day to showcase cozy flannel shirts paired with creative, colorful, or interesting socks. Students love showing off their unique sock collections while staying warm and comfortable.

Friday, December 19th - Camouflage & Nature Day: Students can wear any camouflage patterns to represent how animals adapt and blend into their winter environments. Traditional camo, winter white patterns, or nature-inspired designs all work perfectly.

Participation is completely optional, and students should feel comfortable wearing regular clothes if they prefer. We hope these themed days add some extra fun to our last week before the well-deserved winter break!

Thanks Otters!
