Teacher Librarian Chrissie Wright with Book the Chicken and a fourth grade class

Sunset Elementary Teacher-Librarian Chrissie Wright delights students during story time with a fuzzy yellow chicken puppet named “Book.”

Wright said when she isn’t in the library, she is at home on her farm where she has 32 chickens! She explains that the 'bawk' sound chickens make really sound like “book, book, book” and that’s how she named the library chicken.

Principal LeAnn Tuupo

Meet Principal LeAnn Tuupo

Hello, Sockeye families! One of the best parts about being a principal is greeting the students, families and staff each morning with an air high-five or another quick connection. It helps set a positive tone for all of us! A few fun facts about me: Two of my favorite children’s authors are Mo Willems and Kazu Kibiushi. I have never lived outside of a 15-mile radius from my childhood home. And, if I could only eat one food for the rest of my life, it would be taco salad!
