Students show off their music skills on recorders

On April 2, we hosted our Celebration of Learning night. Students led their families through their school life using a passport/check off sheet. Students showed families what they are learning in the classroom, what they are doing in specialists (library, music, PE) and other teachers they might visit (Title/LAP, SAGE, SPED, ML, counselor or other support staff). Throughout the event, pizza dinner was provided in the lunchroom for families. This was our first big school-wide event that we've hosted in a long time! It was fun to see families in our building again and see them socializing around the building and outside on the playground.

Principal Tod Wood

Meet Principal Tod Wood!

Hi, Newcastle families! One of the best things about being a principal is the opportunity to make a difference for an entire building -- there is nothing else like being able to support an entire group of adults focused on helping kids! A few fun facts about me: My favorite children’s book is “The Wizard of Oz.” I enjoy Alternative and Americana music. If I could only eat one type of food for the rest of my life, it would be a really good bacon cheeseburger. On my travel bucket list: A visit to each of the 50 United States. I once wrote music and played guitar for a band called “When Worlds Collide.” (Don’t bother Googling it – we didn’t exactly hit the big-time!)
